[JOUR 2 –  VENDREDI 15 MARS]

(FR) Le ton est monté d’un cran sur ce championnat de France et cette Coupe d’Europe de Voile universitaire. Après le briefing de 8h00, les 30 équipages étaient sur le plan d’eau en attente du premier départ dès 9h00. Cette deuxième matinée a été rythmée par l’enchaînement de quelques manches dans les vagues et le vent. Les conditions étaient plus rudes qu’hier allant jusqu’à 25-30 nœuds, ce qui a poussé le Comité à stopper les courses l’après-midi. Pour éviter les dégâts, il était préférable de rentrer et ainsi préserver les marins ainsi que les bateaux pour la dernière journée de compétition. Les sportifs ont tout de même mené de belles batailles dans la Rade de Cherbourg et le spectacle était au rendez-vous. Côté classement, les 4 manches n’ont pas suffit pour faire évoluer les places. C’est toujours l’équipage ENSTA Bretagne 1 qui mène la danse, suivi de l’équipage Cherbourgeois Unicaen 1 et de l’Université La Rochelle 1. Les conditions s’annoncent plus printanières demain, on attend encore de belles manœuvres.

(EN) The tone was set for the French Championship and the European University Sailing Cup. After the 8:00 am briefing, the 30 crews were on the water waiting for the first start at 9:00 am. This second morning was punctuated by a series of heats in waves and wind. Conditions were rougher than yesterday, with winds of up to 25-30 knots, prompting the committee to stop racing in the afternoon. To avoid any damage, it was preferable to head back inside, thus preserving the sailors and boats for the final day of competition. Nevertheless, the sportsmen and women put up a good fight in the Rade de Cherbourg, and the show was on. In terms of rankings, the 4 legs were not enough to move up the places. The ENSTA Bretagne 1 crew is still in the lead, followed by the Cherbourg crew Unicaen 1 and Université La Rochelle 1. Conditions look set to be more spring-like tomorrow, and we’re expecting some fine manoeuvres.
